Welcome to Sea Scout Ship 5!

We are a youth sailing and seamanship organization chartered by the Goshen Fire Company in West Chester, PA. Sea Scouts is a co-ed organization for boys and girls ages 14-20. We currently have about 15 active youth members divided into two crews and 4 adult advisers.

We meet at the Goshen Firehouse station 54 Tuesdays from 1900-2100 hours. Anyone is welcome to come and check us out.

Ship 5 was charted in 2003 with 6 members including Boswain Toby McCabe, Skipper Sue Smith and First Mate Robert Hinderliter.

We aquired a Balboa 26 named the Seabird in 2003 and began repairs shortly after. She was retired in the fall of 2006 due to outstanding damages.

In 2005, a 14 foot motorboat named Eagle with a 20 horsepwoer motor was donated by the USCGA. She is currently undergoing repainting.

Friends of Sea Scouts of Maryland is currently loaning us an un-named Irwin 25 for over night cruises. She is stored in a marina in Dundalk, MD.

In July 2006, Coatesville Troop 48 donated an un-named Precision 15. It will be used as a training vessel at Marsh Creek
